I Heart Ipoh

How appropriate that we pray for out city (and our state) today. As most of you know, the political state in Perak is not at its best right now. While we can choose and vote for the people we want to govern our state, ultimately we should be praying for God's will to be done here. We need to pray for right people to be in the right positions - people who will be upright leaders, people who will lead with integrity. In 2 Corinthians 10v3&4, it says that though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have devine power to demolish strongholds.

Yeap, as we face uncertain times, remember that God has given us a weapon that have devine power to demolish strongholds - prayer. So let's commit our city and state into the arms of God.

Today we pray for our church. As members of one body, it is important for us to keep each other in prayer, and it is important for us to encourage one another. In 1 Corinthians 12v12-27, Paul compares the body of Christ to our physical bodies. Though our bodies have many parts, it is a unit that needs to work together in order for optimum function, for if one part suffers every part suffers with it; if one part is honoured, every part rejoices with it (v26)

As we are each part of the body of Christ (v27), no one is unimportant, and we need to keep each other in prayer. Take some time today to pray for our church.

the GREAT commission

Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said,"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Yea folks, today's scripture tells us to GO. GO and make disciples. GO and baptize the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. GO and teach them to obey God's commandments. Go, GO, GOOOOO. That's the Great Commission. To GO and tell the world the good news. We're not excluded from this commission. We are to tell the world that Jesus lives. While we most probably can't stop schooling to go to 'all nations', we can, and we should be telling our family and schoolmates that Jesus lives. There are so many people around us that need to know that God loves them. Let's be part of the story that God is weaving - GO. TELL. WHISPER IT, SAY IT, YELL IT OUT. And remember that Jesus will always be with you, so there's really nothing to be afraid of.

The end of week 1

It's the end of week one! So fast hor... So how's everyone doing so far? Just wanna encourage you guys to continue to press in. And if you have anything you want to share, please email it to infuse.fga@gmail.com. Your sharing will definately encourage other Infusers who are fasting.

So...Today's prayer topic is the schools in Ipoh. It's really important to pray for our schools because as students, schools are places where we spend lots (and I mean super a lot) of time. We're there five or sometimes six days a week. It is a place where are friends are, it is a place where we can carry out the Great Commission. Schools are one of the best places to share the gospel.

Today's verse, Psalm 119v9-16, the psalmist says
v9 How can a young man keep his way pure?
By living according to your word.
v10 I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from you commands.
v11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
v12 Praise be to you, O LORD; teach me your decrees.
v 13 With my lips I recount all the laws that come from you mouth.
v14 I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches.
v 15 I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways.
v16 I delight in you decrees; I will not neglect your word.

Do you know that you are walking Bibles in your school? Your friends will never pick up a Bible to read by themselves. If we want our friends to come to know the Lord, our lives (our thoughts, actions, words) need to be lives that give good testimony to the Lord. We need to be upright in our actions, and we need to be aware of how we are behaving. Are you just like the rest of your classmates? - Do your gossip? Do you pick fights? Do you talk about people behind their backs? Or are you different?

When you say you're a Christian, do you behave like one? Remember that actions speak louder than words, and our friends will notice how we live our lives. So keep your ways pure by living according to the word of God. Read the Bible, take time to learn God's commands, meditate on it, delight in it.

Day 4...

Hey everyone.... how's the fasting going? Lost any pounds yet? Hahahhaa.

Anyway, let's reflect a little on what fasting really is today. Isaiah 58 speaks about true fasting, and verse 2 to 5 says this

v2 For day after day, they seek me out; they seem eager to know my ways,
as if they were a nation that does what is right and has not forsaken the commands of its God.
They ask me for just decisions and seem eager for God to come near them.
v3 'Why have we fasted,' they say, 'and you have not seen it?'
'Why have we humbled ourselves and you have not noticed?'
"Yet on the day of your fasting, you do as you please and exploit all your workers.
v4 Your fasting ends in quarreling and strife, and in striking each other with wicked fists.
You cannot fast as you do today and expect your voice to be heard on high.
v5 Is this the kind of fast I have chosen, only a day for a man to humble himself?
Is it only for bowing one's head like a reed and for lying on sackcloth and ashes?
Is that what you call a fast, a day acceptable to the Lord?

Phew... a powerful passage aye... Sometimes we fast and pray, and we don't see anything happening. There's no breakthrough in our situations, and God doesn't seem to be listening to us. And so we wonder and question God; we get annoyed and angry because we seem to be fasting and praying but God doesn't even bother to take notice.

Perhaps, the problem is with us. As you fast, how does your day go? Are you easily angered? Do you take offense over little things? Are the words that you use aimed at slicing people into two? That's just not how it should be....

As you fast this month, make sure that you're not just doing it because your cell leaders have asked you too, or because everyone else at Infuse is doing it. If we're doing it just because everyone else is doing it, and we're not bothered about what we do and how we behave, then it's not going to get us anywhere. Rather, lets offer our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, as a spiritual act of worship (Romans 12:1).

And... today's verse Romans 12:2 tells us 'Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will.'
